Congratulations to NHS 10th grader Stephanie Lucero for winning a $25 gift card to Walmart for her participation so far in the Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo. All 10th graders are currently spending time during Homeroom watching career videos in the 18 career pathways. The competition to earn points for great Apple product prizes continues through January 31, 2025.

Earlier this week, Nettleton High School seniors participated in mock interviews. During these interviews, students were asked common interview questions and received feedback on what they did well as well as areas of improvement. Thanks to area career coaches who came to conduct the interviews.
Recently, several NHS seniors had the opportunity to tour the Itawamba Community College Belden campus. They were able to visit the different programs there and talk with instructors.

Congratulations to NHS senior Jesse Sintikakis on his acceptance to Base Camp Coding Academy in Water Valley. With his acceptance, Jesse receives a full scholarship to Base Camp's 11-month software development coding academy. During his time there, Jesse will participate in a curriculum designed to prepare him for an entry-level career in software development. In addition to coding skills, he will receive guidance in career development and life skills that will prepare him to work successfully in industry positions. Upon completion of the program, Jesse will also have earned 45 credit hours toward an Associate's Degree from Northwest Community College. Way to go, Jesse! We are so proud of you!
On Thursday, NHS juniors and seniors attended the Monroe County College and Career Showcase at the Old National Guard in Amory. Sponsored by the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, the showcase featured representatives from over 50 colleges, businesses, and industries. Our students were able to talk to the representatives about the career opportunities, what education was required, and what a typical day looks like.

NHS seniors Braden Erwin and Jesse Sintikakis recently toured Base Camp Coding Academy. Located in Water Valley, MS, Base Camp Coding Academy is a free hands-on, challenging program designed to train recent high school graduates to be software engineers in just 12 months. Students work with real-world technologies to learn the fundamentals of coding, app development, and life leadership skills.
School districts awarded DOJ grants for security upgrades
Nettleton Elementary School, Nettleton Junior High and Nettleton High School were placed
on a brief soft lockdown to investigate a reported threat. After investigation, the threat was handled. No students or staff were harmed and the school day was minimally interrupted.
