Destruction of Special Education Records

The Nettleton School District will begin securely destroying special education records in June 2025. This action follows state and federal guidelines for student record retention.
We will be destroying records for students who meet either of the following:
  • Born on or before June 30, 2002, OR

  • Graduated, withdrew, or exited special education services on or before June 2020
These records may include Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), evaluation reports, eligibility documentation, and other special education paperwork.
If you or your child fits the above criteria and you would like a copy of these records for personal, educational, or legal purposes, please contact Angelica Barnett, Special Services Director, at abarnett@nettleton.k12.ms.us before June 15, 2025.
After the deadline, all eligible records will be permanently and securely destroyed to protect confidentiality.
